So.

I know what to do with this site. I’ll make it a sort of portfolio. I’m going to dig into some WP plugins and see which ones I can use for that.

I’ve been a little busy with school, gaming among other things to even think of it, but it’ll come one of these days.

Zzzzzz….

I’m probably going to start using my Livejournal more often. Not sure what I want to do here. I might do some toying around here and make this place my portfolio.

It’s been boring lately. I’ve been playing Perfect World on a private server for a bit and I’m getting over a bug. I’m slowly learning how PHP works and some of the basic terminology. School starts pretty soon, and since most (if not all) of the school supplies are gone by the time that comes, I’m going to start tomorrow when Dad’s paycheck comes in… then next paycheck, I’m going clothes shopping.

I finished Yu Yu Hakusho (again) awhile back. I’ve been watching some anime and making avatars; VLC has this neat little function that allows me to take a screenshot, so if I want to make an avatar from an anime… I can just watch that anime and take screenshots.

Anyway, I don’t have much to say. It’s summer, nothing special is going on… So how’s it going?

Final Fantasy Marathon

For those of you who still stalk me, I ask a favor from you.

There’s a group of guys (you may know them as TheSpeedGamers) who are doing a Final Fantasy Marathon for ACT Today (Autism Care and Treatment). Their goal is $20,000, and they’re more than a third complete so far, which is quite an awesome start considering they started Friday. If at all possible, donate to their cause. They’re even doing a giveaway everyday for those who donate, which starts at 5PM Central Standard time.

If you can’t donate (read: me), promote their site! Tell your gaming friends about it, repost it on your blog, something. It’s for an awesome cause :D

Oh! By the way, they’re starting a Megaman marathon August 14th. Not sure what charity they’re donating to, but hey… It’s a Megaman marathon.

As for me, I’m alright. Since I found that I’m better off learning code via a book, I bought a book on learning PHP and MySQL. No job unfortunately. Feel free to let me know how your summer is going :)

Anime/Game Post :D

First fun post in awhile! I need to do that more often. Anyway…

There are SPOILERS in this entry. If you don’t want to be spoiled, then reading isn’t a good idea.

I got done watching Azumanga Daioh a few weeks back. I got started on it almost two years ago and never finished it, but I loved it to death. I gotta say though, I hate it when anything ends sadly. Azumanga’s ending was kinda happy, but towards the end of the last episode, Chiyo was crying because everyone was graduating and she was going overseas to study ;_;

I also watched Code Geass after hearing about how awesome it was for about a year now. It was good, but I’m not a huge fan of the series; not a big mecha person so to speak. It’s funny how someone with power can use it and take it over the top very quickly to achieve something, even if it is for the greater good.

Downloaded the last 6 episodes of Tales of The Abyss. I’m going to start finishing it tomorrow after I take my written driver’s test. So far, it’s going along with the game’s story, but since I rented it I only got to the part where Luke was fighting Asch at Yulia City… I remember losing to him. It’d be nice if I could get a job so I could buy the game, but that’s a different story suited for another entry.

My brother got me back into the Phantasy Star Online series. We first played version 2 on our Dreamcast and we had a blast with it; in 2004-05 we discovered the PC version along with a private server that used to be pretty active. Now we’re both playing Blue Burst on the same private server, and needless to say, I’m kind of addicted. I want to go back into Perfect World as well… we’ll see about that.

I have also concluded that my favorite MMO of 4 years, Silkroad Online is now defunct. All 20-something servers are full 24/7, and when you DO get into the game, it disconnects you five minutes later. They’re all crashing and the most Joymax is doing is adding another server every month, which I’m sure is more expensive than upgrading the ones they have now. The game is also full of bots, which ruins the fun. There’s a private server I went to when I finally got sick and tired of the official, and the admins at that server do a hell of a better job. Bots are banned on the spot, and the server is retstarted once or twice a week to lessen any congestion by the bots. Part of me wishes that SRO could go back to the old days, but alas, we don’t get what we want sometimes.

Thanks for reading, by the way. I don’t say that as much as I should. I’d make an update on my life, but one, you’re all probably sick and tired of that, and two… it’s summer, nothing special will be going on for awhile.

Almost there…

I think this is my last week of school before I’m out for the summer. I missed two Fridays in a row and I need to have 4 or less unexcused absences to be exempt from my semester exams. I know I’m exempt from 3 of my classes; Chemistry and Algebra because I did well on the end of level exams last year, and English because I took that AP test. History and Music Theory is a little up in the air, but I do well enough in those classes to where I don’t have to worry about ‘em. I intend on taking the Algebra II exam anyway because I have a D in there and I would like to at least keep it that way since it’s a passing grade.

As for college, my last day there was May 5. If you recall, I had a semester project to do with two other people. We were assigned a stakeholder and we were to design a site for them and be done by around late April. We presented the site around that time, and it went better than I had ever hoped. I was still nervous and all, but all I needed to do was give the audience a tour of the site. It was a smaller crowd than I expected, which was a good thing. A day later our instructor spoke to us about it and as it turns out, our group got the highest marks. Considering that I had quite a few conflicts with the other two members* and had other problems in general, I still think that was a miracle :P

The last day of class was our certification exam. I managed to pass with a 77, so now I’m a CIW Associate Design Specialist. I don’t think it’ll help me with a job, and quite honestly I only took it so I can get an extra 30 points added onto my grade. I’m pretty sure people care more about experience than just a fancy certificate when it comes to graphic/web design… I mean, look at my brother. He’s a college dropout and has a job that pays him 50k/year because he’s had 23 years of experience playing around with computers and coding. The reason I even took CIW in the first place was just to learn new things and get more experience under my belt.

Anywho, speaking of jobs, Sonic is hiring and all I need to do is send in my application. I’m going to bug Dad about it… err… later on today when he gets home from work. There’s a supermarket that may be hiring, but I called last week and they told me that they’re out of applications and they were busy getting ready for a health inspection, so I’ll be checking back tomorrow. All I need is my driver’s permit and I’ll be set.
